Castle !
Japanese castles are unique and interesting but unfortunately most of them (more precisely castle towers) were demolished after Meiji Restoration. Today, there are only 12 existing castle towers. One of them and certainly the most famous castle is Himeji castle. Re-coated with plaster several years ago, Himeji castle, as its nick name “white egret”, is beautifully white. The castle site is huge and it may take 2 hours for the entire visit. This castle isn’t decorative but designed for the defense, so there are many military tricks like 997 loopholes. Castle walls are tall and highly rigid. Really impressive. Inside the castle tower, you will certainly notice different artifices such as bretèche. Anyway, it’s a must , especially if you are crazy about Japanese history ! (by SuperYossy)
